What we usually cut are metal parts for machines. But cutting parts is not all we do. The measuring tools that check precision, and the dedicated equipment used on the factory floor — we have made those with our own hands too. It began in 1973. Working with metal, chasing precision, ever since. From that skill, tamatebaco was born.
Cut a block of metal into shape. Change the material or the form, and the way of cutting changes too. We think through the right method for each one. That accumulation is our skill.
Cutting metal is not all we do. The jigs and dedicated equipment we need, we design and build ourselves. We are a factory that starts from the question of how to make it.
Our origin is in precision measuring tools. To make it right, measure it right. We have held to that way of thinking for more than 50 years.

Since our founding in 1973, we have cut and measured metal and taken on all kinds of making. We wanted to bring that skill to things closer to everyday life. Out of that came metal mahjong tiles and pieces for the home — and, in time, tamatebaco.
There is no special factory just for tamatebaco. On the machine tools that cut precision parts every day, a craftsman cuts each one by hand. The skill that has met the precision demanded of industrial parts for decades, now turned to making a beautiful box. tamatebaco was born in a small factory like that.
